HHS JROTC Bulldog Battalion Reaches the Community

The Harlem High School JROTC Bulldog Battalion conducted a canned meal drive from October 5th to December 18th 2023. The students collected meals every Tuesday and Thursday and collected over 400 canned meals.  The students donated all meals to Harlem’s food bank, Fishes and Loaves.  The students were briefed on the entire operation of the food bank by Mrs. Debbie Nunley.  Fishes and Loaves services, on average, over 120 local families per week.  All of these families are from the Harlem, Dearing, and Appling areas.

The JROTC Cadets wanted to do something that would make a real impact in their immediate community.  Fishes and Loaves is one of the few food banks that directly services the citizens of Harlem, Dearing, and the Appling areas.

The Battalion now plans on supporting the food bank each year because of the impact this experience has had on them.
