Administration

Parents,

Your child is about to embark on a remarkable journey at Harlem High School. It is our desire as administrators, counselors, and teachers that every student has a successful and memorable high school experience. We want the students to embrace all four years and take advantage of all that our high school has to offer! There are unlimited opportunities that await your child and we encourage them to get involved while here.

Harlem High is a growing school that seeks to help all students reach the goals they will set for themselves. As we move through this year, please know that the faculty and staff are always here to help with any concerns you may have. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us so that we can help.

We look forward to serving you and your child throughout their time at Harlem High School!

This is Mr. Hooper’s 3rd year at Harlem High School and he loves being a bulldog.

He is married and has 3 adult children. He is a veteran and served in the Gulf War.

Mr. Hooper has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Augusta University.

He received a Master of Education & Education Specialist degree in Educational Administration from The University of South Carolina.

He started his educational career in Aiken County. There, he worked as a teacher's aide, middle school teacher, assistant principal and principal.

He moved to Columbia County 14 years ago working as an AP at Evans High before moving to Harlem.

He enjoys working with the CTAE department and has been doing so over 14 years. He is a Harlem Bulldog Band groupie and goes to all of the competitions.

This year Mr. Hooper has slightly changed positions. In addition to his assistant principal duties, he is teaching three classes in the Teacher as a Profession pathway. He is excited to be spending time in the classroom. It is the reason he became an educator in the first place.

This is my 20th year in Education, and I still cannot believe I get paid to do what I do! I graduated from Augusta State University with a Bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in Secondary Education.  I also earned a Master of Education degree in History Education and a Specialist degree, in Curriculum and Instruction, from Augusta State University.  l have served the Columbia County School District as a History Teacher, Teaching as a Profession instructor, Instructional Technology Specialist, and Assistant Principal.

The relationships that I build with both students and colleagues in my school is something I take a great amount of pride in. I have seen a direct correlation between student engagement and positive teacher relationships. As a servant leader, I strive to help provide a positive and safe learning environment for both our students and teachers. My heart is for the students, and I believe the best way to see student success is pushing them to be the best they can be daily.  I am passionate about working with all of our stakeholders to ensure that Harlem High School students are inspired to continue leading the way in all of their post-secondary endeavors.  Go Dawgs!
